Individual Therapy

All individual therapy sessions begin with an intake where we will get to know you. We will talk about any challenges that you are going through and your personal strengths. We will end the first appointment with a list of goals for therapy and discuss different treatment options to best address those goals. With that individualized treatment plan in place, we will work towards your treatment goals, checking in with the plan regularly and making adjustments as appropriate to make sure it best suits your needs. This is a very collaborative process where you will be in charge of what we focus on, with your doctor helping and guiding you along the way.

Family Therapy

In family therapy, we will meet with the family to discuss what is working well and what is challenging for each person. We will work on understanding the roles of every family member and how they interpret the other family members’ actions. We will make sure that everyone has a voice and find ways to make the family stronger and closer. We will focus on the whole family but may meet with different subsets of the family occasionally to help work through any deeper issues that need to be addressed in smaller group settings.

Child and Adolescent Therapy

Child and Adolescent Therapy

In child and adolescent therapy, we work with the child and their family. We typically meet with both the child and the parents during the first appointment to discuss all concerns and will work together to make an individualized treatment plan. Typically, parents are involved in the beginning and end of each appointment, but that varies based on the child’s age as well as the current concerns. We will also provide parenting skills when necessary and work to make the home life better for everyone! Parents will be included in all skills the child learns and will work with their child to help incorporate his/her new skills into the family’s everyday life. Couples Therapy

In couples therapy, we will meet together to discuss the strengths and challenges in the relationship. We will work to create an individualized treatment plan based off of those strengths and challenges. We will typically work on communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and when applicable, parenting skills. We work from a place of building on the positive aspects of your relationship, strengthening them and providing you with skills to help improve the areas that can be challenging in order to build a stronger relationship overall.

Additional Services

Parent Training / Parenting Skills

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Every child is different and it can be very difficult to figure out what will work for your child. We will discuss the current challenges that you are having with your child and work on new ways to respond to these challenges to help make things better.

Coaching

Coaching focuses on achieving specific goals. It tends to be short term and more goal oriented. Coaching differs from therapy in its approach. Coaching focuses on the positive aspects of your life and specific ways to achieve a goal. In therapy, you explore why you do things and in coaching you focus on how to accomplish the goal. Coaching does not focus on underlying mental health concerns. Appropriate candidates for coaching services have specific goals in mind without underlying mental health concerns.

Examples of coaching goals

  • graduating college

  • improving leadership skills

  • getting a promotion at work

  • improving work/life balance

  • transitioning to a new life stage

  • improving communication skills

  • improving relationships with others

  • managing a divorce
